Once your new account shell has been created, you will need to go through identity verification (similar to when you create a Google Ads account).
Business Vs. Individual Verification
Most advertisers will be trading under a business and will use business verification, which also happens to be the easiest verification to achieve in most cases and is therefore our recommended path to verification.
Pro Tip: It's strongly advised that you have the account owner perform the verification as opposed to you doing it for them. If you are doing the verification on their behalf, you should do so whilst you have them on a call as you'll need them to give you a time sensitive verification code.
You can send this page to your client if that helps, as this is a public url.
The Steps - Business Verification:
Step 1:
Advertisers can go to the Verifications tab>Advertiser identity verification (AIV) status to see the details of their status and begin the process of getting verified.
Accounts with a status “Not verified” can start the process by clicking the “Become a Verified Advertiser” link.
Accounts with a status "Verification not needed" currently do not have any pending action because they are not opted into AIV at this time. If and when an account is opted into AIV, the advertiser will receive an email notification and the status will change to "Not verified”.
Step 2:
Step 3:
Note: The information here must match that in the documents you submit for verification later, or else your verification will fail. You can make updates in your account settings to make sure that your information is up to date.
Step 4:
Prove identity
Business website
Business email address
When an advertiser submits a business email address, a verification code will be sent to that email address to validate it, prior to being able to submit the following form.
You have 120 seconds to enter that code into the Microsoft Ads form.
Under Business Documents, Provide documentation with the business name and address that’ll be used for verification. Business verification document may include the following: business license, certificate of incorporation or registration, Data Universal Numbering System (DUNS) certificate, extract from commercial register, and tax certificate. The easiest way we have found to get this documentation is to submit a screen shot from www.whois.com
Business document upload will accept up to 10 MB files.
Under Website documents (optional), submit documentation that proves the business has registered rights to the domain (e.g., receipt of domain purchase or domain renewal).
Note: the Verify Individual section is greyed out if the website and email address domains match. If they don’t match, the user would have to verify their individual information.
For example:
Email address: [email protected]
Website: www.contoso.com
Step 5:
Review the submitted information, then submit.
The Steps - Personal Verification:
It's a similar process to business verification, but with different methods of verification (eg. take a selfie and upload with some personal ID documents).
