Over specific seasonal periods, clients will often want to pause spend. You can schedule this ahead of time using Adpulse Budget Schedules and leveraging the AutoPause feature.
If you have a handful to do, it’s probably quickest to do the changes per budget - which is what this article will step you through.
If you have a lot to do, then refer to this article to guide you through making the updates in bulk.
If you want Adpulse to pause the campaigns during the planned break, then you need to enable AutoPause under Budget Automation > Advanced Settings
You can watch this video or follow the step-by-step guide below
The example
We have used the example below, but the process will work for changing to any range of dates.
Original Budget Schedule:
Recurring monthly budget of $5,000/mth that commences on the 1st of each month
What we want to update it to:
December 1st - 19th: $4,000
December 20th - January 11th - paused
January 12th - 31st: $2,000
February 1st: return to recurring monthly at $5,000
Step 1 - End the Current Schedule early
Go to the Budget Settings by clicking on the budget name or using the triple dot menu on the Budget row
Edit the Current Schedule using the 'Edit' option in the triple dot.
Update the end date, and update the Budget Target to the new value. In our example, it is reducing it from $5,000 to $4,000
Hit save
The Schedules section will now only show the Current entry - the future recurring one will be removed.
Step 2 - Create the Custom schedule for January
Click the green + button to create a new schedule
Select 'Custom' from the dropdown
Enter a start and end date, with a budget value
Hit save
You will now see the 'gap' where the client wants to pause the activity
Step 3 - Create the new recurring schedule from February
Click the green + button to create a new schedule
Select 'Recurring' from the dropdown
Enter a start date, in our example, this is Feb 1st (do not enter an end date)
Enter a Budget target
Hit save
You now have all the schedules created
Step 4 - Enable AutoPause
You must do this step if you want Adpulse to pause the campaigns during the 'gap' - when there is no schedule.
Expand the 'Advanced Settings' under Budget Automation
Enable AutoPause
Enter a user tag to receive notifications of the pausing and unpausing
Step 5 - Hit save!
Make sure you hit save before navigating away.
