There are a few options when enabling Automatic mode in the Close Variant Manager, so in this article we explain what they do. You can read more about the Close Variant Manager here: Close Variants Manager Explained
Automation Overview
When you are comfortable that your keyword list combined with allowed phrases is adequately covering the potential search terms you want a given ad group to actually target, you can turn on automation to block (daily) any search terms that don't match (ie any search terms that are still classified as Close Variant).
Enabling automation will add an exact match negative keyword every day for every search term that's classified by Adpulse as a Close Variant. In addition to this, if your Ad Group contains only exact match keywords, Adpulse will also add single word phrase match negative keywords for any single words that are not part of your keyword list or allowed phrases.
Two examples:
For simplicity of explanation, let's assume each of the following ad groups contain only one keyword.
Ad Group 1 contains the keyword "mens walking shoes" and a CV appeared for mens joggers. Adpulse would add [mens joggers] as a negative keyword.
Ad Group 2 contains the keyword [mens walking shoes] and a CV appeared for mens joggers. Adpulse would add [mens joggers] as an exact match negative keyword, but would also add "joggers" as a phrase match negative word since the word joggers is not part of the keyword set in that ad group.
Location
You are able to select the location that the Negatives will added to. You can select from:

Any Negative lists you have in the account
Enable phrase match single word negs
When an ad group contains only exact match keywords, enabling this option tells Adpulse to add phrase match negative keywords for any individual words that exist in a search term but not in an enabled keyword.
For example, your ad group contains one keyword [buy red running shoes] and the search term 'buy cheap red running shoes for men' is matched against it. Enabling this option would add negative keywords for [buy cheap red running shoes for men] and "cheap" and "for" and "men".
Disabling this option would only add the negative keyword for [buy cheap red running shoes for men]. This option is designed to allow you to aggressively enforce exact matching between keywords and search terms.
Run immediately
Ticking this will re-run the scna and immediately add any Close Variants as negatives using the toptions you selected above.
If you do not check this, then it will run on at the scheduled time later in the evening (it runs everyday)
