Releasing mid-September. There's nothing you need to do right now.
We're overhauling how Alerts, Insights, Optimizations, and Notifications work in Adpulse. If you send alert notifications to Email, Slack, Teams, or another messaging platform, this will affect your setup.
Why we're making this change
You need to know what needs your attention right now, quickly, and be notified consistently about those issues. Whether something is technically an "Alert" or an "Optimization" shouldn't really matter - knowing about the important things is, well... the most important thing.
Right now, Adpulse manages Alerts and Insights separately with severity only applying to Insights. You also have limited control over system generated emails (like budget alerts). Customers have told us it's disjointed and can lead to email overload, and we agree. This update collapses the whole thing into one system built around severity and notification control.
What's changing
In short: Alerts and Insights become one thing, everything gets a severity, and you subscribe to notifications by severity rather than per budget.
Insights renamed to Optimizations. Same feature, clearer name, and they'll now include the Top 5 Performance Optimizations.
Every alert gets a severity. Today only Insights carry a severity (Critical, Important, and so on). We're extending it to all alerts, including the custom ones you've built, and you'll be able to set the severity on each one yourself, exactly as you can with Insights today.
External Notifications (like email, slack etc) are configured by severity. Instead of setting recipients per budget, you'll subscribe to what's important for you. For example: choose to receive a consolidated daily email listing every Critical Alert and Optimization across the ad accounts you're tagged to, sent to email, Slack, Teams, or wherever you prefer.
The Alerts page gets a rebuild. Alerts will be grouped by ad account and filterable by severity, so the urgent items surface first.
Custom alerts will be more flexible with more options when you create them.
Two categories are renamed. "Best Practice" Optimizations become "Hygiene", and "Wasted Spend" Optimizations move under "Opportunity".
How this could affect you
In short: if your notifications currently go to Slack, Teams, or another messaging platform rather than to tagged users' email, you'll need to set the recipient for Critical notifications once after release. One change, in one place.
System-generated budget alerts (AutoPacing Failed, Ad Account Inaccessible, and similar) currently use the user or messaging platform set on each individual budget.
Currently, changing those across multiple accounts and budgets is tedious. After the update, those per-budget settings are superseded by severity-based notifications. Everyone's notification defaults will be:
Severity | Frequency | Recipient |
Critical | Daily Summary | Users tagged to the Ad Account |
Important | None |
|
Opportunity | None |
|
Hygiene | None |
