Google Sheets Extension - How to set it up

Updated this week

The Adpulse Google Sheets extension is still in development. The article below only relates to testing, which is not accessible for users currently.

Adpulse has a Google Sheets extension that allows you to export data easily into a Google Sheet. This export can then be refreshed according to a schedule, and even a CSV can be emailed on the schedule as well.

This article covers how to install it and then connect it to your Adpulse account.

If you're already done that, then you probably want 'How to export data using the Google Sheet extension'

The data that the add-on can export:

  • Budget data

  • Budget Spend only data

  • Account metrics

These are the same exports that are available in the app.

How to set up the Google Sheet extension

There are two parts to setting this up:

  1. Connecting the extension to your Adpulse account

Downloading the extension

1. Navigate to the 'Get add-ons' page within a Google Sheet:

  • Extensions > Add-ons > Get add-ons

2. Search for Adpulse

3. Click on the Adpulse extension and then click 'install'

4. You will be prompted to give the extension access and agree to the Google terms

5. The Adpulse extension will then appear in the right-hand sidebar of the Google Sheet

Connecting the extension to your Adpulse account

1. Clicking the Adpulse icon will open the extension, where you will be prompted to enter an API Token

2. To obtain your Adpulse API token, within Adpulse, navigate to:

Only users with the role 'owner' can access the Developer tab

3. Click Generate New API Token, which will open a modal:

  1. Name: Enter a name for the token. We'd recommend 'Google Sheets'

  2. Role: Update this to 'Viewer' (this is due to the sheet only being able to read data)

  3. Expiry: Keep the default of 'No Expiration'

4. This will generate your API key, which is a long string of letters and numbers.

5. Copy this using the copy icon

(when copied, it would look something like)

eyJ0eXAiOiJKV1QiLCJhbGciOiJIUzI1NiJ9.eyJpc3MiOiJodHRwczovL2FwaS5leGFtcGxlLmNvbSIsInN1YiI6InVzcl9leGFtcGxlMTIzNDU2Nzg5MCIsImF1ZCI6Imh0dHBzOi8vYXBpLmFkcHVsc2UuYXBwIiwiaWF0IjoxNzU2NDY4MDAwLCJqdGkiOiJhYmNkZWYwMS0yMzQ1LTQ2N2EtYmNkZS01Njc4OWFiY2RlZjAiLCJodHRwczovL2V4YW1wbGUuY29tL29yZ19pZCI6Im9yZ19leGFtcGxlMDAxIiwiaHR0cHM6Ly9leGFtcGxlLmNvbS9yb2xlcyI6WyJvd25lciJdfQ.DummySignatureValue1234567890

6. Go back to your Google Sheet and paste the API key into the extension and press Save

Nice work, you can now use the Adpulse Google Sheets Extension!
